Managing enforcement and litigation risks - Are your ESG disclosures vulnerable to ‘greenwashing’ claims?
Time & Location

About the event
From consumer goods to investment funds, an overwhelming amount of products and services in every sector are now labelled as “ESG”, “sustainable”, “net-zero”, eco-friendly”, and so on. The demand for sustainable and socially responsible products has skyrocketed, resulting in the launch of a plethora of “green” goods, services and investment tools. Poor supervision, a lack of transparency and standardisation allowed businesses to vastly exaggerate their green credentials and, in some cases, blatantly lie. However, calls for policing greenwashing are getting louder and with regulators entering the ESG reporting and disclosure arena, the risk of litigation is now greater.
- How can firms make ESG related disclosures truthful and avoid being scrutinised by the regulators?
- Whose responsibility is it to make sure ESG claims are accurate?
- Are companies adequately equipped to manage this relatively new source of risk?
- What role can the legal profession play in enabling the transition to net zero?
